Ceremonial Welcome and Spiritual Covering

Before the ceremony begins, Martin and Crystal would like to recognize a special group of men and women who represent an important part of Martin’s faith journey.

Joining them are the Deacons, their wives, and clergy from New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, who serve alongside Martin in ministry and leadership. These men and women have prayed with him, served with him, and walked beside him in faith. Today they are present not only as witnesses, but as a spiritual covering for both Martin and Crystal as they enter into this covenant of marriage. Martin and Crystal are grateful for their prayers, wisdom, and continued commitment to encourage and uplift their union.

They are also honored to have Pastor Chuck Allen, pastor of Sugar Hill Church and Corner Gathering, a long-time friend and community partner of Crystal’s. Pastor Chuck partnered with Crystal on many school initiatives during her time as principal in the Lanier Cluster at Sycamore Elementary. He has graciously opened the doors of Corner Gathering Church to welcome the wedding party, family, and friends who have gathered to celebrate the marriage of Martin and Crystal. Pastor Chuck will welcome guests and open the ceremony in prayer.

Following the prayer, Dr. Monica Batiste will officiate the wedding ceremony. Dr. Batiste has been a mentor, trusted friend, and confidant to Crystal for over sixteen years. Her wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support have meant so much throughout Crystal’s journey, and Martin and Crystal are honored to have her lead them in this sacred covenant of marriage.
